Sunset Blvd at Egyptian and Birthday
My friend Edna took me to a nice dinner then we went to the 10th anniversary of American Cinematique with a showing of the original Sunset Boulevard.? Nancy Olson , the actress who plays Betty Shafer, spoke before the film.? It was fascinating (of course it is!).? There also was a makeup school student dressed as Norma Desmond.? One final note, Nancy mentioned there really is no substitute for being in a theater viewing a full screen image of a movie.? And I had never seen this film except on a television.? She was very correct.? It just is not the same experience, by a long shot.? And hands down this is the best film ever produced.? Thanks to Billy Wilder, Gloria Swanson, William Holden, Cecil B. Happy Thanksgiving
I did not really work that many events this week due to the holidays. Surprisingly I did not get depressed yesterday from missing family members as usual. I think it was because I got a phone call from my brother, and that made me feel like I was home with them. When he married my sister, I knew he was a great guy, because he is very considerate and a genuine caring individual. Those kind are tough to find, especially in Lost Angeles 🙂
