Interview with Rhea Litre for Gaycities on West Hollywood

The gay insider’s guide on where to party, stay, shop, and eat in West Hollywood

Rhea Litre is an international drag icon and West Hollywood legend who has lived in Weho (what locals call West Hollywood) for almost 20 years.

GayCities sat down with her to ask her questions about the area, such as eating, partying, bars, etc. Because when you want to know the scoop on a neighborhood, you should always ask a longtime resident, right?

Four Agreements

1. Be Impeccable with your Word:
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love. Your spirituality is unique and most people are in dark not enlightened as yourself.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally:
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering. Nevertheless be aware that my own reality is constantly changing based on my decisions I make daily!

3. Don’t Make Assumptions:
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life. When communicating electronically, phrase as questions whenever possible to avoid offense.

4. Always Do Your Best:
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid judgment, self-abuse, and self-regret.

Joining the Windy City Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence

To make a very very long story and drama a bit shorter, I recently decided to disconnect from the Gateway Sisters in Saint Louis due to some trouble they are experiencing.  I spoke to Sister Nia Preen here locally and she was quite happy to welcome me to their order.  I have been a part of SPI since 2004 and have done various things for them over the years.  Thank you for welcoming me to Chicago.
