Guess who

I took a trip downtown for some photos and as luck would have it, there was a big fire on broadway and 4th. Not to say this is a good thing, but makes for interesting photos. I also got some really good shots of downtown buildings and trains. I am excited today for its the first day of my photojournalism class. The teacher has tons of experience in the area and taught my other class. I have experience with a few magazines so this should be a breeze. Oh just a little frustration, I take some medicines and of course I use insurance when going to the pharmacy. Well I went to get my monthly refills and the insurance company decided to change things and not pay for the most expensive one. Well I was not pleased as I have good insurance. So after yelling at the lady on the east coast, I requested the supervisor call me today. Personally I think the medical system in our country is a farce. Its based solely on profit (well as is all of the country) and only allows the insurance corporations to get wealthier instead of helping those in need of medical attention. The system in Canada is socialized and much more compassionate. I think we may lean towards that eventually as the baby boomers start getting older and the general population at the middle class level requires social reform.

Last night was fairly busy considering it was first week of February. Winter tends to be slower sometimes. But the crowd wasnt bad. The guest stars were fun and energetic. I think it was because they were boyfriends too. New York came up in questions. Eddie Diaz was discovered at a club there. It’s funny how I keep getting different connections to that city. Maybe some day I will be able to afford to go live there. I used to travel there quite a bit for business when I did computer consulting. I miss being able to go any weekend and have a place to stay there. Ah well.

Costa Mesa Trip

I took a trip today to OC to see Costa Mesa area. I found a large shopping mall in the middle of all the suburbia. Its fairly up scale and has no riff raff to speak of. Surprisingly, I was not looked at strangely. I guess it still is considered LA 🙂

Last night was not quite as exciting as last week. But then Francesco was one of the hottest guys I have ever seen there. I guess I do not get this whole ‘act straight for the camera’ thing. I understand guys who are exhibitionists but that has nothing to do with their sexuality as a whole. I think most of these guys are really gay. I got the distinct impression from both of them that they were coached. Ah well. Whatever sells I guess.

I went with my friend Edna to see this city called Ojai up in ventura county that has a reputation of being a new agie type town. I thought it would be fun to check it out. It only has a population of 8000. So we took amtrak and then a local bus. It took approx 3 hours. It was relaxing but doubt I will go back. Ya see, the people seemed pretentious and overall the town was just too small. We did stop in Ventura and walked down Main Street. It was a little more interesting actually than Ojai. We both agreed that it was worth returning there sometime instead. I took some photos of course.
